When does the ladder begin? Is it too late to register and play? The ladder starts on June 1st. Registration will be open until June 30th. Note: Entries after June 15th do not get an "unrestricted" 1st challenge. How do I join the ladder? Joining the ladder is easy! Simply fill out the entry form and pay the entry fee. You will be automatically entered and will receive an emal with the info you need to start making challenges.
How does the ladder work? The object of the ladder is simple: Work your way up to the top of the ladder by challenging players above you. If you challenge a player above you and you win, then you take that players spot and everyone else moves down 1 spot. If you lose, you stay where you are.
Who can I challenge on the ladder? You first challenge before June 15th is an 'Unrestricted Challenge'. You can challenge anyone on the ladder. After that, the number of spots you can challenge up the ladder is determined by the Challenge Range for each ladder. The Challenge Range is determined by the Size of the ladder.
I've tried to set up matches with everyone in my Challenge Range but no one would play me? Who can I play? If you have tried to set up matches with everyone in your Challenge Range but were unsuccessful, you can then challenge up to twice your challenge range.
How many challenges should I make or accept at one time? You should only make or accept 1 challenge at a time. Depending on the outcome of your first challenge the second challenge may not be one that makes sense or that you would want to make.
I was just challenged by player 'X' and won but they want to play me again this weekend. Do I have to accept the challenge? No. You do not have to play the same player for a period of 2 weeks if you don't want.
How do we decide on where to play? Matches should be played at a mutually agreeable court.
Who is responsible for bringing the balls? Both players bring a can of new balls and the winner keeps the un-opened can (unless using both cans based on USTA Covid guidelines).
Who is responsible for reserving the court? If the match is played at a mutually agreed to court and nobody is playing at their 'home' court' then either player can reserve the court.
Who is responsible for court costs? Each player is responsible for their court cost.
Do we have to play a 3rd set tie-breaker? No, if both players agree you can play a full third set tie-break. You should decide this at the beginning of the match but since both players have to agree it can be decided anytime
What is the format of the tie-breaker? The ladder will use standard tie-break rules - i.e. : switch sides every 6 points.
My opponent is over 15 minutes late. What do I do? If a player is more than 15 minutes late and has not called then you can claim a default. However, we recommend that players have each others cell phone number as well as the phone number of the court where they are playing so they can call if they are going to be late. The player at the court should attempt to reach the other player before leaving the court. If a player does communicate before the schedule time of the match that they will be late due to unforeseen circumstances, the other player should make every effort to play the match.
How do I report results? Results should be reported using the Report a Score page on the website.

I am near the top of the ladder and no one is challenging me. How can I get a match? If a player is at or near the top of the ladder and is not receiving challenges then that player can challenge those below them. When challenging down, you need to use the same Challenge Range as if you were challenging up.
